Elections for officers and the governing board of the EBV association were held. Current board members eligible for a second 2-year term were re-elected unopposed. The successful candidates were: George Sai-Wah Tsao (Hong Kong), Yu-Sun Chang (Taiwan), Alison Sinclair (UK), and Stephan Gottschalk (USA). The proposed candidates for new board members included: Erle Robertson (USA), Rosemary Rochford (USA), Bettina Kempkes (GER), Martin Allday (UK), Lori Frappier (CAN), Patrice Morand (FRA). The new members were elected unopposed.
The EBV association treasurer, Sankar Swaminathan, informed meeting participants that the Association will award 10 travel scholarships to post-doctoral and graduate students giving oral presentations.
Prof. Lawrence Young announced that the next EBV meeting will be held in Birmingham England on September 4-8, 2010. Dr. Young gave a short preview of the meeting facilities. In addition, Dr. Young challenged the association members to consider being more proactive in raising the profile of EBV research within the scientific community and the public.
